Welcome to Year 3, St Jude.  Our class saint is St Jude and the feast day is 28th October.  He is the patron saint of desperate cases and lost causes.

Facts about St Jude

  • He was also known as Judas Thaddaeus or Lebbaeus
  • He was a relative of Jesus
  • He wrote the epistle of Jude in the Bible warning believers about false teaching.
  • He is the patron saint of desperate cause, desperate situation and lost causes.
  • He is often shown in icons with a flame around his head.  This represents his presence at Pentecost when he received The Holy Spirit with the other apostles.

Life in Saint Jude Class: We had fun on cultural day learning about South America. We painted silhouettes of the Amazon Rainforest, danced to salsa music and made quesadillas.

Life in Saint Jude Class: In History we used our archaeological skills to find out what was discovered in Aveley.

Life in Saint Jude Class: In Science we made our own mini compost bin to help us understand how soil is formed. We had fun adding stones, compost, left over fruit, worms and shredded paper to our bottle. Over the next few weeks we made observations.
