Holy Cross is a Catholic School which seeks to build a closer partnership with parents, the parish and the wider community. We are founded by the La Sainte Union and work in partnership with the Christus Catholic Trust.  We work hard to provide an environment which is secure, stimulating and happy, and where everyone is appreciated and enabled to give of their best.  We encourage all to have respect for each individual, to be honest, tolerant, just and forgiving and to develop a closer relationship with each other and through this a closer relationship with God. We recognise Jean Baptiste Debrabant’s vision that “A Christian-based education is a sure hope for the future of religion and society”.

Here at Holy Cross we are committed to a Catholic Christian way of life in pursuit of the Gospel message and ideals and teachings of the Catholic Church. Governors, teachers, children and parents are committed to a journey of faith by virtue of their baptism. Baptism has initiated us into a way of life that continually calls for appraisal, and urges us to take our personal growth and our mission to others seriously.

 

Central to this is helping the children to pray, to celebrate and worship by participating in the liturgical life of the school and parish. Equally important is the creation of an atmosphere of love and respect, caring and sharing among all those who contribute to the life of the school.

 

Christ’s teaching as found in the Gospels underpins every aspect of our school’s life, and is exemplified through positive relationships with children, their parents, colleagues and with the wider community. These relationships are built on respect and love, care and a mutual concern for all.

 

Our mission is to help the children to know God, to recognise His presence in every human being and to guide them along their faith journey. 

The school strives to build on the foundations of faith started in the home, and seeks to provide an environment where the beliefs and values of the Catholic faith are taught, explained, developed and nurtured.

 

Our aim is to address both the academic and spiritual needs of the children in our care, and provide them with the opportunities necessary to develop all aspects of their personality. We seek to help children to realise their own uniqueness in the eyes of God, regardless of nationality, class, wealth or intellect, to help them develop a personal relationship with Him, and to see themselves as “His Hands on Earth”.
