Thursday 12th and Friday 13th November- Hinduism Week

This week is Hinduism week and we will be looking at the festival of Diwali and the story of Rama and Sita.

For their literacy lesson they will be retelling the story of Rama and Sita by ordering the pictures that match the powerpoint, please see below for resources.

In addition to this children will be given the opportunity to create a Diwali card ( see below for resources) and a traditional Diya ( clay oil lamp). Children can practise their writing by writing a short message in the card. This can be done by copying a short message you plan with your child and write down for them to copy. For the lantern children will be given a small piece of clay to make a little pot to fit a tea light. You can use playdough or modelling clay which will have the same effect.

I have also attached a Rama and Sita dot to dot which will help with counting and a traditional Rangoli pattern for children to colour in. Along with a template to create a Diwali lantern. For the lantern children can colour in the body of the lantern and then add long thin colourful paper/ tissue paper strips to the bottom.
